REIKI

For Pets and the People Who Love Them

Dear Friends:

I became a Reiki I practitioner in October, 2000 and advanced to Reiki II in June, 2004.  In April, 2007, I became a Reiki Master and in April, 2009 completed Shinpiden Reiki Master Teacher training with Frans Stiene from the International House of Reiki.  I have also had the privilege of studying with Kathleen Prasad of Animal Reiki Source and co-author of the book, Animal ReikiUsing Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life (ISBN:  1569755280)  I am delighted and honored to offer Reiki treatments to animals of all kinds, as well as the people who love them.  (Please see the Animal Reiki Practitioner Code of Ethics.)

My family and I share our home with two rescued greyhounds, Fred and Phoebe, as well as two rescued cats, Garrett and Tansy.  We actively support Greyhound Adoption of Greater Cincinnati and the League for Animal Welfare

Please contact me with any questions or to schedule a treatment.

Never Heard of Reiki?

The Reiki (pronounced "ray kee") system of natural healing was founded by Mikao Usui in Japan around 1922.  Reiki is a holistic technique which taps into the unlimited supply of life force energy and channels it through the hands of the trained practitioner.  The human recipient is fully clothed and seated in a chair or reclined on a massage table while the practitioner places her hands on or above various energy points on the body for approximately one hour.  The animal recipient determines the length of the treatment and whether or not it is hands-on via behavioral cues that the practitioner is trained to observer.

Reiki can reduce stress, promote relaxation, facilitate an improved sense of well-being, and serve as a complement* to conventional medical and veterinary care, as well as other holistic therapies.  It can do no harm and naturally goes to the source of the problem.  Reiki is not a religion, nor is it associated with any one belief system or doctrine. Skepticism will not prevent Reiki from working, but an open mind always helps.

Distance Treatments for Pets and People

Reiki distance (also known as "absentia") treatments are given by the Reiki II (and above) practitioner to animals and individuals who are not in physical proximity with her.  The practitioner simply sends a full Reiki treatment remotely, over distance and time, via visualization, intention and focus.  Energy knows no bounds, so these treatments offer the same benefits to the recipient as an in-person treatment.  Distance treatments may be a preferable alternative to in-person treatments when dealing with an animal that may be especially fearful, frail, or close to making its transition.  These treatments are scheduled with the practitioner in advance, but can usually be scheduled within 24 hours to provide support in emergency situations.
